There was an upset in Leverkusen where 4th placed SG BBZ Opladen (11-10) was edged by eleventh ranked Hagen Phoenix (8-13) 56-54 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-9. But SG BBZ Opladen won second period 18-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Elina Stahmeyer (180-91) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Kathrin Schlatt (174-91) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Marie Gulich (194-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and center Mareike Nettersheim (186) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Hagen Phoenix moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Krofdorf/Gleib. SG BBZ Opladen lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Hagen Phoenix will face Krofdorf/Gleib. (#10) in Giessen in the next round.
