Leader Rotenburg/Scheessel delivered the eighteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 9th ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (8-13) 81-65 in Giessen. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-65. American guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) for the winners and her fellow American import power forward Kierra Mallard (190-90, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 15 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Mara Hjelle (187-89, college: Wayne St., NE) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and the former international power forward Yvonne Weber (195-74, college: Washington) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Rotenburg/Scheessel (18-3) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place in North. Krofdorf/Gleib. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hagen Phoenix. Rotenburg/Scheessel will meet at home Baskets Grunberg (#4) in the next round. Krofdorf/Gleib. will play against Hagen Phoenix (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
