Regular Season Round 28: Gotha - Crailsheim 78-75
Date: March 22, 2014
The most exciting game of round 28 in the ProA took place in Gotha. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Crailsheim Merlins (20-8) to eighth ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (15-13) 78-75 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. Crailsheim Merlins were trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 16-12 charge of Oettinger Rockets Gotha, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Scottish forward Alasdair Fraser (201-92, college: Maine, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and American forward Torvoris Baker (201-83, college: Detroit Mercy) who added 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Oettinger Rockets Gotha players scored in double figures. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach Chris Ensminger used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) responded with 25 points (made all of his eight free throws) and his fellow American import power forward Stevie Johnson (198-78, college: Iowa St.) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted Oettinger Rockets Gotha maintains eighth position with 15-13 record. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side keep the second place with eight games lost. Oettinger Rockets Gotha are looking forward to face Finke Baskets (#12) in Paderborn in the next round. Crailsheim Merlins will play at home against the league's leader BG Goettingen (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
