Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#2) and Istanbul Universitesi (#4). Fenerbahce (23-2) won against visiting Istanbul Universitesi (17-8) 80-66. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Istanbul Universitesi was better in third quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Cappie Pondexter (175-83, college: Rutgers) stepped up and scored 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-88, college: VCU) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Shenise Johnson (180-90, college: Miami, FL) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American forward Michelle Campbell (188-84, college: Rutgers) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Istanbul Universitesi's coach rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the twentieth first consecutive win for Fenerbahce. Defending champion maintains second place with 23-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Galatasaray. Istanbul Universitesi lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Fenerbahce will play against league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Istanbul Universitesi will play at home against Botas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
