ChemCats Chemnitz (#6) forced the game against Rhein Main Baskets (#4) into an overtime, but lost by two points 87-89 on Saturday night. The game took place in Chemnitz. But the guests from Langen were better at the end. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ChemCats Chemnitz. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But ChemCats Chemnitz won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where ChemCats Chemnitz used huge pressure winning it 27-23 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-11. Rhein Main Baskets made 34-of-39 free shots (87.2 percent) during the game, while ChemCats Chemnitz only scored sixteen points from the stripe. ChemCats Chemnitz was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Denise Beliveau (180-89, college: New Hampshire) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The other American import guard Alyssa Karel (172-89, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. International point guard Tina Menz (175-88) replied with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Dutch power forward Fieke Ligthart (185-90) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for ChemCats Chemnitz. Four Rhein Main Baskets and five ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Rhein Main Baskets (14-8) moved-up to second place, which they share with Marburg. Newly promoted ChemCats Chemnitz keeps the sixth position with ten games lost.
