UMMC cruised past Dynamo-GUVD in the opening game of the quarterfinals. The game without a history. UMMC Ekaterinburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. UMMC Ekaterinburg forced 20 Dyn.-GUVD turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Dyn.-GUVD's players. French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Italian-American Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four UMMC Ekaterinburg players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Alexandra Kostina (191-87, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Swedish forward Binta Drammeh (180-92) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
