Second Stage Round 8: Wels - Gussing 87-77

The most important game in the last round took place in Wels between second ranked Gussing Knights (20-8) and sixth ranked Raiffeisen Wels (13-15) on Friday night. Gussing Knights were defeated by Raiffeisen Wels on the road 87-77. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Wels. Gussing Knights managed to win fourth quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiffeisen Wels looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was German power forward Tilo Klette (206-77) who scored 22 points. American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. American forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Anthony Shavies (191-83, college: Missouri St., agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Five Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Raiffeisen Wels maintains sixth position with 13-15 record. Gussing Knights at the other side keep the second place with eight games lost. Raiffeisen Wels are looking forward to face higher ranked Xion Dukes (#5) in Klosterneuburg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gussing Knights will play at home against Gmunden Swans and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
