Regular Season Round 28: Budivelnyk - Khimik 88-97

Superleague top team - Khimik (21-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Budivelnyk (16-7) in Kyiv 97-88. Budivelnyk was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 30-15 third quarter run of Khimik. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for American guard Jamal Shuler (191-86) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St.) replied with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (216-84) added 20 points in the effort for Budivelnyk. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Khimik have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-2 record. Defending champion Budivelnyk dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Khimik's next round opponent will be Hoverla (#10) in Frankivsk and are hoping to win another game. Budivelnyk will play at home against Mykolaiv (#7) and hope to win that game.
