Very expected game in Frankivsk where 10th ranked Hoverla (11-14) was crushed by sixth ranked Budivelnyk (16-7) 92-71 on Monday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-71. Budivelnyk outrebounded Hoverla 71-26 including a 27-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Hoverla's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Blake Ahearn (188-84, college: Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and the other American import swingman Ricky Minard (196-82, college: Morehead St.) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Yurii Frasenyuk (200-86) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Russian center Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-86) scored 11 points. Five Budivelnyk and four Hoverla players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Azovmash. Loser Hoverla keeps the tenth position with 14 games lost. Budivelnyk will face Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv in the next round. Hoverla will play at home against the league's leader Khimik and hope to win that game.
