Regular Season Round 29: Siauliai - Nevezis 88-66

Very expected game when 10th ranked Nevezis (10-18) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Siauliai (16-13) 88-66 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Siauliai. Nevezis was better in second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 32. Siauliai forced 23 Nevezis turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Travis Leslie (193-90, college: Georgia) who scored 14 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) chipped in 16 points. Coach Gediminas Petrauskas's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and Tauras Jogela (203-93) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Siauliai maintains third place with 16-13 record having nine points less than leader Tonybet. Loser Nevezis keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. Siauliai will face Lietkabelis (#8) in Panevezys in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nevezis will play on the road against Juventus in Utena and hope to win that game.
