There was a surprise result in Weissenfels where thirteenth ranked TBB Trier (12-18) beat higher ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (15-15) 84-80 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-80. TBB Trier made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (184-87, college: Wisconsin) who scored 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Canadian-Jamaican guard Jermaine Anderson (188-83, college: Fordham) chipped in 23 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Five TBB Trier players scored in double figures. American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) produced 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-89, college: USF) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. TBB Trier moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Mitteldeutscher BC keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. TBB Trier will face league's second-placed Brose Baskets in Bamberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
