Yakin Dogu (#3) forced overtime, but falled to Mersin Kurtulus (#2) by three points 75-78 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yakin Dogu. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 25-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 9-6. American guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 6 assists. Ilkay Kocaslan contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Nigerian center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds and forward Gulnur Sandallioglu (187-87) added 23 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Yakin Dogu. Mersin Kurtulus (7-3) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Mersin Kurtulus maintains second position in Group E behind leader Cankaya. Yakin Dogu at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with three games lost. Mersin Kurtulus will face league's leader Cankaya in Ankara in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yakin Dogu will play at home against Anadolu Univ. and hope to win that game.
