An interesting game for Benfica (19-1) which played road game in Alges against 4th ranked Alges (10-10). First ranked Benfica had an easy win 93-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Alges. The game without a history. Benfica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Alges 37-24 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Joao Gomes (201-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Jobey Thomas (194-80, college: Charlotte) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Henrique Piedade (189-94) replied with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international Rui Quintino (194-83) added 11 points in the effort for Alges. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Benfica have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-1 record. Alges at the other side dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost.
