Very predictable result when third ranked Sampaense (11-9) won against 9th ranked Oliveirense (7-13) in Coimbra 89-78. The game was mostly controlled by Sampaense. Oliveirense was better in third quarter 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sampaense dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Oliveirense's 36. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe power forward Ekjersey Viana (203-77) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Chris Dowe (193-91, college: Bellarmine) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American center James Blasczyk (216-90, college: USC, agency: Duran International) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Renato Azevedo (186-91) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sampaense maintains third position with 11-9 record having eight points less than leader Benfica, which they share with CAB Madeira. Oliveirense lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Galitos-Tley.
