UMMC cruised past Dynamo Moscow in the opener. The game without a history. UMMC Ekaterinburg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. UMMC Ekaterinburg had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Dynamo Moscow was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Maria Stepanova (202-79) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) responded with 14 points and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Lindsay Whalen (175-82, college: Minnesota) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
