There was a small surprise when fourteenth ranked Istanbul DSI (13-19) defeated at home 12th ranked Gelism (13-19) 91-80 on Saturday. Gelism was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 32-20 charge of Istanbul DSI, which allowed them to win the game. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Gelism was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: Alti Sport) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) who added 27 points and 8 assists during the contest. Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. American guard Martin Samarco (191-85, college: Bowling Green) responded with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Istanbul DSI moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Antalya and Gelism. Gelism lost fifth consecutive game. Istanbul DSI will face higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#6) in Giresun in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
