Regular Season Round 30: Juventus - Nevezis 93-59

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Juventus (13-19) rolled over 10th ranked Nevezis (10-20) in Utena 93-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Juventus. Nevezis managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Nevezis 55-28 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward AJ Matthews (216-89, college: Farmingdale St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Russian forward Nikita Barinov (203-91) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Juventus' coach Virginijus Sirvydis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tauras Jogela (203-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) added 17 points in the effort for Nevezis. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Juventus maintains seventh position with 13-19 record. Nevezis at the other side keeps the tenth place with 20 games lost. Juventus are looking forward to face Lietkabelis (#8) in Panevezys in the next round. Nevezis will play on the road against Neptunas in Klaipeda and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
