There was no surprise in Bamberg where 18th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (6-25) was defeated by second ranked Brose Baskets (26-5) 88-78. They made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Brose Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Sharrod Ford (206-82, college: Clemson, agency: Pro One Sports) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Maik Zirbes (208-90, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Brose Baskets' coach Chris Fleming allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Brandon Bowman (204-84, college: Georgetown) came up with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard William Conroy (187-82, college: Washington) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively for SC Rasta Vechta in the defeat. Four Brose Baskets and five SC Rasta Vechta players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 26-5 record having just -1 point less than leader B.Muenchen. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta stay dead last with 25 lost games. Brose Baskets will play against EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg in the next round. SC Rasta Vechta will play at home against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
