Not a big story in a game in Bonn where 8th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (16-16) was defeated by sixth ranked Telekom Baskets (19-12) 89-78. The game was mostly controlled by Telekom Baskets. Mitteldeutscher BC was better in third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telekom Baskets made 25-of-32 charity shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Telekom Baskets outrebounded Mitteldeutscher BC 40-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's, agency: Two Points) accounted for 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (203-89, college: USF) came up with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) added 21 points and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for Mitteldeutscher BC in the defeat. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Telekom Baskets moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Art.Dragons. Mitteldeutscher BC at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 16 games lost. Telekom Baskets will play against Artland Dragons (#5) in Quakenbrueck in the next round. Mitteldeutscher BC will play at home against BBC Bayreuth (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
