Date: April 25, 2014
Besiktas (#4) was upset in Istanbul by eighth ranked Tofas 85-79. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Besiktas. Besiktas was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 33-18 charge of Tofas, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Besiktas to just 7 points in first quarter. Tofas made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri) who scored that evening 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Nigerian power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-87, college: Texas A&M) supported him with 16 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Even 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) by American point guard Doron Perkins (188-83, college: Santa Clara) did not help to save the game for Besiktas. His fellow American import guard Chris Lofton (188-86, college: Tennessee, agency: Allegiant Athletic Agency) added 21 points for lost side. Besiktas' coach Ahmet Kandemir rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tofas maintains eighth position with 14-14 record. Besiktas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Tofas will play against bottom-ranked Aliaga (#16) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
