Very important is a home loss of second ranked Brose Baskets (26-6) against fourth ranked EWE Baskets (23-9) on Friday night. Host Brose Baskets were defeated by EWE Baskets in a tough game in Bamberg 75-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brose Baskets. EWE Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri, agency: Pro One Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 assists. The other American import guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) replied with 15 points and 4 assists and Trinidad and Tobago-American center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Brose Baskets. Five EWE Baskets and four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. EWE Baskets maintains fourth position with 23-9 record. Defending champion Brose Baskets keep the second place with six games lost. EWE Baskets will play against Walter Tigers (#17) in Tuebingen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Brose Baskets will play on the road against Mitteldeutscher BC (#9) in Weissenfels and hope to get back on the winning track.
