Regular Season Round 32: Vechta - Fraport SKY 75-76

Eighteenth-ranked SC Rasta Vechta (6-26) made lots of trouble for eleventh ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (13-19). The visitors from Frankfurt managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as SC Rasta Vechta took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Deutsche Bank Skyliners had a 24-18 second period charge getting the lead and SC Rasta Vechta was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-76. The winners were led by swingman Kevin Bright (196-92, college: Vanderbilt) who scored that evening 23 points and Danilo Barthel (207-91) supported him with 12 points and 5 assists. Four Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' coach Gordon Herbert allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 18 points by American point guard Richard Williams (177-87, college: San Diego St.) did not help to save the game for SC Rasta Vechta. His fellow American import forward Brandon Bowman (204-84, college: Georgetown) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Deutsche Bank Skyliners maintains eleventh position with 13-19 record. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta stay dead last with 26 lost games. Deutsche Bank Skyliners' next round opponent will be Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#13) at home. SC Rasta Vechta will play against the league's leader Bayern Muenchen (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
