Regular Season Round 35: VolinBasket - Kirovograd 86-98

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kirovograd (22-3) beat 9th ranked VolinBasket (10-11) in Lutsk 98-86. It looked good early as VolinBasket took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kirovograd took control getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. Kirovograd forced 27 VolinBasket turnovers. It was a great evening for American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St., agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!). His fellow American import forward Quintrell Thomas (203-90, college: UNLV, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) helped adding 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Kirovograd's coach Igor Chigrinov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Artem Shelukha (198-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Andriy Gorbatiuk scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kirovograd and five VolinBasket players scored in double figures. Kirovograd have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. VolinBasket at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Kirovograd will play against Avantazh-Politekhnik (#3) in Kharkov in the next round, which may be the game of the day. VolinBasket will play at home against Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
