Rather expected game when 10th ranked Phoenix Hagen (15-18) was smashed on the road by eighth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (18-15) 90-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by EnBW Ludwigsburg. Phoenix Hagen managed to win second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. EnBW Ludwigsburg made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Guard Coby Karl (196-83, college: Boise St., agency: Priority Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Keaton Grant (193-86, college: Purdue) accounted for 20 points. Four EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. Forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) came up with 14 points and 9 rebounds and point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 15 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively for Phoenix Hagen in the defeat. Phoenix Hagen's coach Ingo Freyer rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. EnBW Ludwigsburg maintains eighth place with 18-15 record. Phoenix Hagen at the other side keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. EnBW Ludwigsburg will meet higher ranked EWE Baskets (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Phoenix Hagen will play against Walter Tigers (#17) in Tuebingen and hope to secure a win.
