No shocking result in a game when second ranked Brose Baskets (27-6) beat 9th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (16-17) in Weissenfels 82-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Brose Baskets. Mitteldeutscher BC managed to win third quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mitteldeutscher BC 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Trinidad and Tobago-American center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) nailed 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Slovakian point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, agency: Pro One Sports) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Marcus Hatten (186-80, college: St.John's) came up with 19 points and 6 assists and the other American import guard Michael Cuffee (195-83, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Mitteldeutscher BC in the defeat. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second place with 27-6 record behind leader B.Muenchen. Mitteldeutscher BC at the other side keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Brose Baskets will meet at home Telekom Baskets (#5) in the next round. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against Artland Dragons (#7) in Quakenbrueck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
