Barmer TV defeated BG 74 Veilchen in Wuppertal 82-67. The game was mostly controlled by Barmer TV. BG 74 Veilchen managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 34 personal fouls committed by BG 74 Veilchen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Paige Sickmiller (175, college: Wayne St., MI) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and Chantal Neuwald (180-95) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Barmer TV players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Monique Smalls (168-91, college: Texas Tech) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Nicole Jones (188-89, college: Drexel) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BG 74 Veilchen will play next round against Hagen Phoenix trying to get back on the winning streak. Barmer TV will try to continue on its current victory against Hannover on the road.
