Regular Season Round 1: Osnabruck - Opladen 64-32
Date: September 21, 2014
Osnabruck used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Leverkusen 64-32 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Osnabruck led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SG BBZ Opladen to just 5 points in third quarter and to 14 points in second half. Osnabruck dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to SG BBZ Opladen's 22. American forward Alysa Horn (182-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) stepped up and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import point guard Angela Pace (178-87, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side center Mareike Nettersheim (186) responded with 7 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Romanian power forward Elke Henning (185-85) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Osnabruck will face Zehlendorf in the next round which should be another easy win for them. SG BBZ Opladen will play against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
