Sf.Gheorghe used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Timisoara 65-35 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timisoara to just 4 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. Sf.Gheorghe dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Timisoara's 20. Sf.Gheorghe forced 29 Timisoara turnovers. American guard Taneisha Harrison (182-89, college: Pittsburgh) stepped up and scored 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Sf.Gheorghe's coach Zoran Mikes felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Serbian center Vladinka Erak (190-84) responded with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Sf.Gheorghe will face Targu Mures on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Timisoara will play against ICIM Arad and hope to win that game.
