Regular Season Round 1: Horsholm - Falcon 98-76

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Falcon (0-1) on the court of Horsholm on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Horsholm 98-76. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-76. Horsholm dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Falcon's 44. Horsholm forced 20 Falcon turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Falcon's players. Forward Iben Soltau (186-86, college: St.Bonaventure) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) for the winners and American center Joy Burke (196-90, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Horsholm players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Elisabeth Hansen (176-93) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds and guard Marie Gadeberg (180-94) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Horsholm is looking forward to face SISU in Copenhagen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Falcon will play at home against Aabyhoj and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
