BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Rotenburg/Scheessel (1-1) 82-70. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The former international Birte Thimm (180-87) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and American-Trinidad and Tobago forward Kellindra Zackery (182-88, college: Newman) scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Rotenburg/Scheessel and four BC Pharmaserv Marburg players scored in double figures. Rotenburg/Scheessel will meet at home TSV 1880 Wasserburg in the next round and it may be the game of the week. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against TV Saarlouis Royals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
