A very interesting game took place in Hagen. It ended with only one-point home defeat of Phoenix Hagen (1-1) to Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (1-1) 85-84 in the game for the fifth place. Phoenix Hagen was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 26-21 charge of Eisbaeren Bremerhaven, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 39-19 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Lorenzo Williams (187-84, college: Rice) notched 23 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and DR Congolese-American swingman Moses Ehambe (198-86, college: ORU, agency: KMG Sports Management) supported him with 18 points. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's coach Calvin Oldham allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Phoenix Hagen. His fellow American import guard Todd Brown (196-87, college: Wright St.) added 25 points for the hosts. Four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's next round opponent will be EnBW Ludwigsburg at home. Phoenix Hagen will play against Brose Baskets in Bamberg and hope to win that game.
