Regular Season Round 4: Wels - Arkadia 69-73
Date: October 10, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (2-2) were defeated at home by sixth ranked Arkadia Lions (2-2) 73-69. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Raiffeisen Wels helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for forward Jurica Blazevic (199-94, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. The former international point guard Benedikt Danek (176-86) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. The former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian-Bosnian guard Diego Kapelan (190-87, college: McNeese St.) added 13 points and 5 assists in the effort for Raiffeisen Wels. Raiffeisen Wels' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Arkadia Lions moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Wels and Gussing. Arkadia Lions' next round opponent will be higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) at home and it may be the game of the week. Raiffeisen Wels will play against Redwell Gunners Oberwart and hope to win that game.
