Regular Season Round 4: Ezerunas-Karys - Palanga 99-81

There was a change at the NKL leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 4 took place in Moletai between two undefeated teams where Ezerunas-Karys beat Palanga (3-1) 99-81 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Palanga. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Ezerunas-Karys. Palanga managed to win second period 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Gintautas Matulis (196-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side point guard Deividas Anuzis (181-92) responded with 17 points and 7 assists and center Adomas Drungilas (204-90) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Ezerunas-Karys and four Palanga players scored in double figures. Palanga's coach Paulius Barkus rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ezerunas-Karys have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Palanga at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ezerunas-Karys. Palanga will play next round against Delikatesas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Ezerunas-Karys will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Trakai on the road.
