Very important is a road loss of Fortuna (0-1) against Utena (1-0) on Saturday night. Visiting Fortuna was defeated by Utena in Utena 92-74. The game was mostly controlled by Utena. Fortuna was better in third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Fortuna's 34. Utena forced 19 Fortuna turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 16 blocks. Fortuna was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Greta Sniokaite (180-91) nailed 25 points for the winning side and the former international Egle Sulciute (190-85) accounted for 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Utena players scored in double figures. International swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) came up with 24 points and 9 assists and international Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) added 28 points respectively for Fortuna in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Utena will play against Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fortuna will play against Jaunieji Talentai in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
