There was a surprise result when tenth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (2-2) defeated at home higher ranked Donau-Ries (2-2) 70-61. It looked good early as Donau-Ries took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Pharmaserv Marburg had a 21-4 second period charge getting the lead and Donau-Ries were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-70. BC Pharmaserv Marburg dominated on the defensive end, holding Donau-Ries to just 4 points in second quarter. BC Pharmaserv Marburg forced 22 Donau-Ries turnovers. Quite impressive performance for international forward Finja Schaake (179-92) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's coach Patrick Unger allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Melissa Jeltema (175-88, college: Oakland) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and Canadian power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser) added 12 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Donau-Ries. BC Pharmaserv Marburg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Donau-Ries.
