Regular Season Round 4: Satu Mare - Cluj Napoca 80-57
Date: October 12, 2014
Bottom-ranked Cluj Napoca (0-3) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to ninth ranked Satu Mare (2-2) 80-57. The game was mostly controlled by Satu Mare. Cluj Napoca was better in fourth quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cluj Napoca to just 7 points in first quarter. Satu Mare dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cluj Napoca's 36 and made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Cluj Napoca 41-23 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Satu Mare players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Cluj Napoca's players. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Andreea Orosz (183-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. American center Ashley Adams (196, college: Ohio St.) contributed with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Swiss forward Annie Kassongo (188-87, college: S.Nazarene, agency: Gamble Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Amber Jones (170-91, college: UAB) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Satu Mare moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Targu Mures. Cluj Napoca at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Satu Mare's next round opponent will be league's leader CSM Targoviste on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cluj Napoca will play against Oradea in Oradea and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
