Regular Season Round 5: Gmunden - Zepter Vienna 96-81

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Zepter Vienna (4-1) on the court of leader Gmunden Swans on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Gmunden Swans 96-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Zepter Vienna. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 4-0 record before this meeting. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Zepter Vienna managed to win third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. The former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Gmunden Swans (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Zepter Vienna at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Gmunden Swans are looking forward to face Xion Dukes (#6) in Klosterneuburg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Zepter Vienna will play at home against Gussing Knights (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
