Regular Season Round 4: Art.Dragons - EWE Baskets 92-85

Date: October 12, 2014
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated EWE Baskets (3-1) in Quakenbrueck. Visitors were defeated by Artland Dragons (4-0) 92-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 3-0 record before this meeting. It looked good early as EWE Baskets took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Artland Dragons had a 28-20 second period charge getting the lead and EWE Baskets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-92. Artland Dragons made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Artland Dragons had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Cypriot power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and American point guard David Holston (168-86, college: Chicago St., agency: Priority Sports) who added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) scored 24 points. EWE Baskets' coach Sebastian Machowski rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Artland Dragons have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with ALBA and B.Muenchen. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Brose Bask. and MBC. Artland Dragons will play against Telekom Baskets (#16) in Bonn in the next round which should be an easy win for them. EWE Baskets will play at home against Walter Tigers (#18) and hope to get back on the winning track.
