Regular Season Round 5: Gussing - Furstenfeld 99-70

Bottom-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-70 loss to fifth ranked Gussing Knights (3-2) in Gussing. The game without a history. Gussing Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gussing Knights forced 20 Furstenfeld Panthers turnovers. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) nailed 22 points for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) accounted for 13 points and 11 rebounds. Heard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lithuanian power forward Petras Balocka (205-86, college: Hawaii) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 16 points and 7 assists respectively for Furstenfeld Panthers in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Arkadia and Kapfenberg. Furstenfeld Panthers lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Gussing Knights' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Zepter Vienna in Wien and it will be for sure the game of the week. Furstenfeld Panthers will play at home against Arkadia Lions (#3) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
