Regular Season Round 1: Cherkasy - Khimik 67-84

Very important is a home loss of Cherkasy (0-1) against Khimik (1-0) on Sunday night. Host Cherkasy was defeated by Khimik in Cherkasy 84-67. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Cherkasy managed to win third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Cherkasy's 32. Khimik forced 20 Cherkasy turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. International power forward Maxym Korniyenko (204-87, agency: Beo Basket) nailed 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and American point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) accounted for 16 points and 6 assists. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. British power forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) came up with 20 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and American point guard Cameron Rundles (185-88, college: Wofford) added 21 points respectively for Cherkasy in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Khimik will meet at home Dnipro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cherkasy will have a break next round.
