There was no surprise when Magdeburg (2-2) lost on the road to USC Leipzig (3-2) 71-57 on Friday. USC Leipzig outrebounded Magdeburg 44-32 including a 44-32 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American center Khalil Kelley (203-91, college: Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Jorge Schmidt (193-85) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. point guard Philipp Stachula (185-87) replied with 12 points and naturalized American Joseph Buck (201-81, college: USC) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Magdeburg. USC Leipzig have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory USC Leipzig went down to fourth position (Group North) due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Magdeburg keeps the eighth place with two games lost. USC Leipzig will face RSV Eintracht (#7) in Stahnsdorf in the next round. Magdeburg will play on the road against Sixers in Sandersdorf and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
