Important game to mention about took place in Weissenfels. Sixth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (4-1) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 13th ranked Phoenix Hagen (1-4) 80-79 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 27-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mitteldeutscher BC outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 42-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. American players dominated the game. Guard Frantz Massenat (193, college: Drexel) saved the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 assists. Swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach Silvano Poropat used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Keith Ramsey (205-87, college: Missouri) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 20 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mitteldeutscher BC. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Phoenix Hagen lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with four games lost. Mitteldeutscher BC will face Artland Dragons (#3) in Quakenbrueck in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Phoenix Hagen will play at home against EWE Baskets (#5) and hope to win that game.
