Regular Season Round 8: Siauliai - Juventus 90-81
Date: October 18, 2014
The game between closely ranked teams ended with Siauliai's (4-3) home victory over Juventus (5-3) 90-81 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Juventus won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai shot 61.1 percent from the field. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Swiss guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 assists and guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) who added 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Siauliai's coach Gediminas Petrauskas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American-Samoan point guard Rashaun Broadus (180-84, college: BYU) responded with 25 points and 4 steals and Simas Buterlevicius (200-89) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Siauliai went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser Juventus dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Siauliai will face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
