But Benfica was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Angra Heroismo 83-57. The game without a history. Boa Viagem led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Boa Viagem forced 27 Benfica turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including 17 on the offensive glass. Benfica was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Myneshia McKenzie (183, college: Rider) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds. The other American import guard Symone Roberts (173-91, college: Providence) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Serbian guard Jovana Nogic (180-97) replied with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Sofia Ramalho (167-80) added 16 points and 5 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Benfica. Benfica's coach Andre Cardoso gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Boa Viagem will play against Lombos Quinta in Carcavelos in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Benfica will play on the road against GDESSA in Barreiro to get more than just one victory in their record.
