Regular Season Round 6: Vilnius Palanga - Zalgiris II 70-88

Bottom-ranked Vilnius Palanga is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to twelfth ranked Zalgiris II (2-4) 88-70. It looked good early as Vilnius Palanga took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zalgiris II had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Vilnius Palanga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-88. Zalgiris II shot 60.7 percent from the field. 26 personal fouls committed by Vilnius Palanga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Vidas Ginevicius (194-78, agency: Interperformances) who scored 12 points and 7 assists. Power forward Laurynas Birutis (210-97) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). At the other side the best for losing team was center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) who recorded 8 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jermaine Love-Roberts (188-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) added 14 points respectively. Five Zalgiris II and four Vilnius Palanga players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Zalgiris II moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted Vilnius Palanga still closes the standings with four games lost. Zalgiris II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena JAZZ-Diremta.
