Regular Season Round 3: Univ.Cluj - Steaua CSM 70-99

No shocking result in a game when Steaua CSM (2-0) crushed on the road Univ.Cluj (0-3) 99-70 on Saturday. Steaua CSM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Univ.Cluj's 54. Steaua CSM forced 20 Univ.Cluj turnovers and outrebounded them 33-13 including 19 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Travis Watson (203-81, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Titus Nicoara (202-88, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. Bulgarian guard Vasil Kyosev (196-90) answered with 21 points and Mario Lazar (201-94) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Univ.Cluj. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Steaua CSM will face Ploiesti at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Univ.Cluj will play against Timba Timosoara in Timisoara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
