There was no surprise when Academico FC (0-2) was defeated on the road by Alges (2-0) 68-57. The game was mostly controlled by Alges. Academico FC was better in third quarter 10-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alges forced 22 Academico FC turnovers. Power forward Chelsea Guimaraes (189-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. International Dora Duarte (174-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Alges' coach Alberto Saraiva used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Vanessa Soares (185-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and international forward Francisca Braga (180-90) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Academico FC. Alges will play against Uniao Sportiva in Ponta Delgada in the next round where they are favorite. Academico FC will play at home against Olivais and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
