Regular Season Round 4: Speyer - Viernheim 65-54

Date: October 19, 2014
Everything went according to plan in Dudenhofen where top-ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (4-0) beat 7th ranked TSV Amicitia (1-3) 65-54 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Speyer / Schifferstadt. TSV Amicitia was better in second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Martina Kraus (186-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Uta Gelbke (177-86) who added 23 points during the contest. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach Harald Roth used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Jennifer Mocanu (172) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Canadian center Diane Schuetze (190-90) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Speyer / Schifferstadt have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser TSV Amicitia keeps the seventh place with three games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt will face ASC Theresianum Mainz at home in the next round where they are favorite. TSV Amicitia will play against Weiterstadt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
