There was a small surprise when tenth ranked BBC Bayreuth (3-3) beat at home 7th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (3-3) 64-56 on Wednesday. BBC Bayreuth made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (184-87, college: Wisconsin) scored 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Polish swingman David Brembly (197-93) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Tyrus McGee (188-91, college: Iowa St.) with 19 points and 6 rebounds and British forward Myles Hesson (198-90) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Eisbaeren Bremerhaven. BBC Bayreuth will face Telekom Baskets (#9) in Bonn in the next round.
