Regular Season Round 7: Ezerunas-Karys - Suduva-Mantinga 65-72

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ezerunas-Karys (5-2) in Moletai on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Suduva-Mantinga (4-3) 72-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ezerunas-Karys. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-65. Suduva-Mantinga dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Ezerunas-Karys' 20. Strangely Ezerunas-Karys outrebounded Suduva-Mantinga 49-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Rokas Cepanonis (206-89) helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international power forward Saulius Kuzminskas (210-82, college: California) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Aivaras Kvedaravicius (185-88) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Suduva-Mantinga moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Ezerunas-Karys at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Suduva-Mantinga is looking forward to face Delikatesas (#8) in Joniskis in the next round. Ezerunas-Karys will play on the road against the league's second-placed Petrochema (#2) in Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
